Applying to the program (Dec 1, 2010 to Feb 25, 2011):

Applying for the J-1 Intern Visa (Mar to Apr, 2011):
Students who are not American citizens are required to apply for the J-1 Intern visa in order to intern in the US. This process will take about 1.5 to 2.5 months. It will begin upon the receipt of your first installment.

Step 1: Student receives the Form DS-2019, welcome package, and necessary materials from us
Step 2: Student attends the Skype briefing session(s)
Step 3: Student submits/pays the Form SEVIS I-901 fee
Step 4: Student pays the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee for nonimmigrant visa applications
Step 5: Student prepares an appropriate photo and necessary documents
Step 6: Student fills out Form DS-160 (online visa application form)
Step 7: Student schedules and appears for the interview, followed by passport delivery for approved applicants
Step 8: Student submits the second installment by Fri, Apr 23

Open Room Switching Period (Mar to Apr, 2011)
Students are allowed to choose their roommates and room type during the Open Room Switching Period, which takes place in late March or early April. The program will also recruit students to join its student board during this period.

Preparation (Apr to May, 2011)
Students must be fully prepared, whether in mindset, hard skills or soft skills, before the internship. After students have obtained their visas, they will attend a mandatory pre-departure briefing session to go over the important highlights. This session will be conducted via Skype and/or in-person.

During the program (Session A)

Sat, May 21, 2011: Arrive in NY and check-in
Sun, May 22, 2011: Post-arrival orientation
Mon, May 23, 2011: First day of internship
Mon, May 30, 2011: Memorial Day (Holiday)
Mon, July 4, 2011: July 4th (Holiday)
Fri, July 8, 2011: Last day of internship
Sat, July 9, 2011: Check-out and departure

During the program (Session B)
Fri, July 8, 2011: Depart from Asia
Sat, July 9, 2011: Arrive in NY and check-in
Sun, July 10, 2011: Post-arrival orientation
Mon, July 11, 2011: First day of internship
Fri, Aug 29, 2011: Last day of internship
Sat, Aug 30, 2011: Check-out and depart
