Introduction
Los Angeles

Known for media, commerce, and technology, Los Angeles (also called “LA” and the “City of Angels”) is the second largest city in the United States and has many attractions such as the iconic Hollywood sign and Disneyworld. It is near other major cities and tourist areas, such as San Francisco, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon, making it a convenient travel hub.

How to get around?

While it is true that Los Angeles residents primarily rely on private means of transportation to get around, the city still boasts a significant transit system. This system is operated and maintained by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, also simply known as the Metro. Services provided by this organization include the bus, rail, Metro bike, and Metro micro/vanpool, which are official rideshare services provided by the city. Operating times vary depending on location and specific service, but in general, one can expect the Metro to be operating from around 5 am to after midnight. Fare payment can be done using several mediums, such as the reloadable Tap Card, which costs $2 without the fare and are available at TAP vending machines or bus fareboxes, the virtual Tap App, and cash (bus only). Los Angeles is known for its highways/freeways, and as such has extensive rideshare services, such as Uber/Lyft. The city also hosts a myriad of cab services that one can use in lieu of the aforementioned rideshare services, some of which are listed below.

Los Angeles is also a major state and nation-wide hub, and as such, it hosts interstate rail and bus services. The interstate rail service, AMTRAK, makes a stop at the Los Angeles Union Station. The station also provides easy access to interstate bus services such as Greyhound.
