1 General Requirements In accordance with 22 CFR §62.12(b)(1), exchange program sponsors must confirm that all participants — and any dependents — have sufficient financial resources to support themselves before issuing the
DS-2019. Therefore, FUSIA requires all sponsored EVs to demonstrate financial capacity to cover living expenses for the full duration of the program.
2 Minimum Requirements FUSIA requires its sponsored exchange visitors to meet a minimum financial requirement of USD per program week, multiplied by the number of program weeks, plus USD for each J-2 minor, if applicable. The stated minimum funding serves as a baseline requirement, and should ensure that additional resources are available as needed. This amount will be reflected in DS-2019. In cases where is unable to provide standard proof of funding to meet the program’s minimum requirements, a request for an exception may be submitted, subject to review on a case-by-case basis.
3 Funding Requirements To satisfy this requirement, shall accurately, fully, and truthfully list each source of funding (as detailed on page 2) and provide valid documentation (e.g., bank statements from personal and/or immediate family member savings) to substantiate the availability of sufficient funds for each listed source.
4 Reserve Requirements In the event of unforeseen circumstances, agrees to maintain a minimum of USD 2,000 in readily accessible reserves throughout the program, to be used solely in response to such circumstances.
5 Living Expenses and Financial Preparedness acknowledges that living expenses in the U.S. may vary significantly by region, with some areas being substantially more expensive than others. To ensure proper financial preparedness, is required to complete the worksheet on page 3 of this document, which provides a detailed breakdown of estimated living expenses by region, thereby assisting in the assessment of their financial capacity.
6 Financial Hardship and/or Changes If a change in the information provided and/or a change in financial situation that may impact their ability to meet program requirements occurs, shall notify FUSIA within 72 hours. shall notify FUSIA within 72 hours. acknowledges that financial hardship may constitute grounds for termination of participation in the program. further agrees not to hold FUSIA liable for any termination or consequences resulting from financial hardship.
7 Tax Filing In the event that receives a stipend and/or any income from the U.S. during the program, acknowledges that such amounts are subject to U.S. taxes. shall independently file a U.S. tax return and remit any taxes owed. further acknowledges that FUSIA shall bear no responsibility for the filing of taxes, nor for providing reminders related to tax obligations. It is sole responsibility to obtain the necessary documentation, including the W-2 form, and to comply with all applicable tax filing requirements.
