BridgeUSA (J-1 visa) provides opportunities for qualified foreign nationals to travel and gain experience in the US through a wide range of programs for periods ranging from a few weeks to several years.

BridgeUSA (J-1 visa) Short-Term Scholar is for foreign nationals who are a professor, research scholar, or person with similar education or accomplishments who enters the United States for a short-term visit for the purpose of lecturing, observing, consulting, training, or demonstrating special skills at research institutions, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited academic institutions, or similar types of institutions. Through the Short-Term Scholar program, participants lecture, observe, consult, train or demonstrate special skills at research institutions, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited academic institutions or similar types of institutions.
Eligibility
• Not have participated in and completed a professor or research scholar program within the last 24 months preceding the beginning date of their new program’s commencement
• Not have participated in a J visa program for all or part of the 12-month period immediately preceding the start date of a professor or research scholar program

Duration
• Maximum 6 months (no minimum stay is required; no program extension or change of category will be considered)

Benefits
• Educational enrichment: Collaborate on special research projects, teach a semester at a college or university, or lecture, consult or observe in a variety of settings in education and research in the US

Remarks
• Be a professor or research scholar or someone with similar education and or experience
• Not be subject to the 24 month bar on repeat participation upon the conclusion of the program
