(YK) Exploring the Brooklyn Bridge and the DUMBO neighborhood was another important cultural activity during my J-1 exchange program. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge allowed me to experience one of the most recognized landmarks in the United States while gaining a deeper appreciation for its historical and architectural significance. From the bridge, I was able to observe the New York City skyline, the East River, and the connection between Manhattan and Brooklyn, which made the scale and identity of the city feel much more real to me. Afterward, I explored DUMBO, where historic buildings, public spaces, and contemporary city life exist together in a way that reflects New York’s constant evolution. This visit helped me better understand how the city preserves its history while continuing to grow, and it strengthened my appreciation for the culture, diversity, and character of urban life in America.
