Former New York State Senator Tony Avella has had a distinguished public service career as a civic activist and politician, including being a member of the New York City Council from 2002 to 2009, and serving in the state senate from 2011 to 2019. The students met with Avella who discussed his career-long fight for working and middle-class families.
