Overview

Muni Metro is San Francisco’s light-rail system, operating the J, K, L, M, N, and T lines through subway tunnels and on surface streets. The network connects Downtown with neighborhoods including the Sunset, Ocean View, Ingleside, Mission Bay, Dogpatch, and Visitacion Valley. Riders must tap or activate a valid fare before entering a subway station or boarding a surface train. Passengers should check the destination sign because several lines share stations before branching to different neighborhoods.
